Dundrum Station , Tipperary
Website:
This beautiful building is now home and offices for Architect Kyran Colgan. Once the train station for Dundrum in Tipperary, it's situated on the main Dublin / Cork line.
Colgan Design selected a Nibe 1240 - 12kW heatpump with built in hot water and the heat is gathered from two deep boreholes outside. Heat distribution is from Unipipe Underfloor which is ideal given the tall ceilings here and of course the cleaner look given its invisible location buried in the concrete floors. A feature of this building is the beatiful stone walls, so it would have been a real pity to cover them with radiators! The bathrooms and wet areas are also ventilated via a Nibe FLM unit, located on top of the heatpump. The FLM draws this waste heat and recycles it into the rock for later 'collection' by the heatpump or for an immediate efficiency boost when the compressor is actually running.
