Beacon Concierge Building Passive and Active Heating And Cooling
Website:
Using three 170 Meter deep boreholes, energy is extracted from the rock below the building when heat is required and distributed via the Unipipe floor heating system.
In warm weather, the process is automatically reversed, taking heat from the floors by circulating the bore-hole fluid through the floor heating system - initially that is 'passive cooling' using just some circulating pumps and the natural temperature difference between the floors and the ground water / rock. If more cooling is required then the heatpump's compressors can start and pull heat from the floors to enter the Active Cooling mode.
